'Brave New Jersey' Poster and Images Reveal a Comedy About 'War of the Worlds&#0…

On October 30, 1938 a radio drama show called The Mercury Theatre on the Air put on a very special Halloween episode. Directed and narrated by Orson Welles, it was a radio play retelling of The War of the Worlds, H.G. Wells’ iconic sci-fi novel about Martians in great big spaceships invading Earth. The world was a far less interconnected place back then and, understandably, some listeners around America freaked out, sincerely believing that the broadcast was depicting real events and aliens had indeed come to our galactic shores.

That broadcast has taken on an almost urban legend status over the decades, and the new movie Brave New Jersey, starring Anna Camp, Tony Hale, Sam Jaegar, Mel Rodriguez and a whole lot more, takes a fictional look at a night that was already stranger than fiction. It’s a comedy about one small town in New Jersey that collectively believed Welles’ broadcast and that they all had one last night on Earth left together. As the synopsis puts it, it’s an alien invasion movie where the aliens never show up.

Brave New Jersey, directed by Jody Lambert, will world premiere this weekend at the Austin Film Festival and it’s our honor to premiere not only its poster, but a handful of images from the movie.
