Chewbacca Gets Violent in New 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Deleted Scene
If you’re a hardcore Star Wars fan who already owns a copy of The Force Awakens and needs a major incentive to also pick up the upcoming 3D Collector’s Edition Blu-ray, we’ve got some. First, the special release will feature a never-before-seen deleted scene from Maz Kanata’s tavern, and it’s a nice little tribute to part of the Cantina scene from the original movie.
Entertainment Weekly was able to share part of the scene, so we’ve got a little tease already. Rey runs into Unkar Plutt, who has tracked her via the Millennium Falcon, and he’s pissed. She pulls a blaster on him, he grabs it from her, then suddenly Chewbacca enters and confiscates the weapon from him. Then Plutt lays a finger on the wookie. Watch up until this point here:
As for what happens next, EW also reveals the unseen (until you get the Blu-ray) details. Apparently Chewbacca tears one of Plutt’s arms off and throws it onto a gambling table. Not only does it sound like a nod to Ponda Baba’s dismembered limb from the first Star Wars, but it also finally follows through on that movie’s claim that wookies like Chewbacca are known to pull arms out of their sockets.
Another bonus feature on the 3D Collector’s Edition is an audio commentary from J.J. Abrams, which was not included in the original home video releases. USA Today got to share an excerpt, and it’s a pretty significant one. The following video concerns a certain climactic death scene that will be a big spoiler if you for some reason haven’t yet seen the movie.
Pick up the Star Wars: The Force Awakens 3D Collector’s Edition Blu-ray when it hits stores on November 15.
