‘Chronicle’ New York City Stunt: Flying People Spotted Over The Water
Because New Yorkers don’t see enough crazy things on a daily basis — remember that rat the size of a dog; WTF was that? — one studio decided to launch three flying “people” into the air over the Hudson River.
In a viral stunt to promote the found-footage superhero movie “Chronicle,” Twentieth Century Fox sent three remote-controlled flying objects shaped like humans into the New York City skies.
“Since the three main characters of the movie have the ability to fly, we came up with the idea of staging a few ‘flying people’ sightings around NYC. We achieved that illusion by having 3 custom-made aircraft (which were shaped like human beings) fly above designated areas in NYC and NJ,” said Michael Krivicka from Thinkmodo in a press release.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the flights only lasted about five minutes due to low battery life. However, more flights are currently being planned at undisclosed locations. Get your iPhones, Droids, etc. ready to roll!
“Chronicle,” which tells the story of three high-school friends who gain superpowers, hits theaters this Friday.
