Conan O’Brien’s writing staff is unhappy after receiving news that they’ll have to take significant pay cuts when the late-night king moves from NBC to TBS this November, sources told The New York Post.
“This is no surprise,” an insider told The Post about the anticipated pay cuts. “One show was broadcast network; the other is basic cable. It’s a different pay scale. It’s not just writers; it’s everybody.”
O’Brien left Late Night with Conan O’Brien in January after a highly publicized falling-out with The Peacock that stemmed from the cancellation of the ill-fated Jay Leno Show. After a nearly year-long hiatus, he’ll return to the tube in a new program on the basic cable network, premiering Nov. 8.
The Writers Guild of America is still negotiating how much Conan’s writers will be paid for their work on the new series.
