In the words of Ryan Seacrest: Archuleta out! Boyish good looks and an angelic set of pipes haven’t translated into record album sales for American Idol alum David Archuleta.
It’s those lack of receipts that have cost David his recording contract with Jive Records.
Archie, as he is affectionately known to fans, is no longer on Jive Records, the imprint that released his platinum-selling debut disc nearly three years ago.
“David was released from our roster,” a label spokesperson confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter Friday.
Archuleta, 19, is best remembered as runner-up to Idol champ David Cook during the show’s seventh season. His sophomore album, The Other Side of Down, was released in September.
“I hope this album helps people understand more of where I’m coming from as an artist and as a person. It’s about moving forward in life, making progress in accomplishing your goals and dreams while appreciating what life has given you,” David said at the time.
To date, the disc — flanked by the lead single “Something ‘Bout Love” — has sold just 67,000 copies.
