It has been reported today that a new album under the title “Recovery” released by Eminem has occupied number one position on the Billboard 200 chart. According to Nielsen SoundScan, 741,000 copies were sold out during the first week of its availability on sale.
It is the sixth debut by hip-hop’s king which immediately became top in the charts. The only debut that didn’t manage to win leading positions was Eminem’s album called “Slim Shady LP,” which became number two 11 years ago.
This new album has already outshone such singer’s previous number one debuts as “Relapse” in 2009, and “Curtain Call: The Hits” released five years ago.
The number of on-line downloads is also impressive: the album has been downloaded 255,000 times during the first week. In terms of digital success “Recovery” was inferior only to “Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends” which debut gathered more than 288,000 downloads in 2008.
Speaking in general, album sales within the previous chart week reached 6.06 million copies, which is 1% less than a week before. In comparison with it, digital sales amounted to 21.6 million downloads which is 1% higher than the last week’s results.
