Girlicious singer Natalie Mejia has narrowly escaped a stint in the Big House after pleading guilty to a drugs charge stemming from her arrest for cocaine possession last March.
The crooner, who shot to fame in 2007, after appearing on The Pussycat Dolls’ reality talent search Girlicious, was pulled over for speeding on the Los Angeles Freeway on her way to the airport last winter. After searching the car, cops allegedly found a dozen bags of cocaine stuffed in Mejia’s designer
handbag.
Mejia was charged with felony drug possession. The songbird immediately went on the defensive, insisting that she had no idea how the bags had made their way into her purse. She even maintained her innocence during a preliminary hearing in April, but after an appearance in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Wednesday, Mejia decided to enter a plea deal with the prosecutors office.
Natalie will avoid all jail time in exchange for her guilty plea. In addition, the charge will be wiped from her record if the singer can keep her nose clean (literally) for the next 18 months.
