In what will be music to the ears of still-devoted Dawson’s Creek fans, acting vet James Van Der Beek is returning to television in a new ABC sitcom. And you’ll never guess who he’ll be playing.

Van Der Beek, who recently thrust himself back into the public spotlight with a website touting his talents as a GIF model, is set to star in Don’t Trust The Bitch in Apt. 23. James will be tackling the tough roles of James — appearing as a fictionalized version of himself, a la Neil Patrick Harris in the Harold & Kumar movies.

The series, tipped for premiere this fall, will follow June (Dreama Walker), an honest, optimistic girl who’s forced to move in with Chloe (Krysten Ritter), who has “the morals of a pirate.” Van Der Beek will play Chloe’s best friend. The role was originally written for Lance Bass, who would’ve played a fictionalized version of — You guessed it –Lance Bass.
