Julia Stiles Slams Michael C. Hall Affair Whispers

Is newly-separated Michael C. Hall romancing Dexter co-star Julia Stiles?

Stiles says she and the still-married Hall are just friends, contradicting recent whispers claiming that the two have been secretly dating. Hall and his wife, Jennifer Carpenter, who plays serial killer Dexter Morgan’s cop sister on the show, shocked fans this week after announcing that they have separated after nearly two years of marriage.

The actress joined the cast of the popular Showtime series during the ratings record-breaking fifth season as recurring guest star Lumen Pierce, a rape and torture victim who Dexter rescues and helps seek revenge on her captors.

“I have absolutely nothing to do with the split between Michael and Jennifer. We are good friends and enjoyed working together,” Stiles said in a statement this week. “This is a personal matter between them, and we should respect their privacy. Although I too prefer to keep my private life private, I felt compelled to dispel the rumors I was somehow the cause for this matter.”

On Thursday, Carpenter officially filed divorce papers against Hall in Los Angeles. Despite standing by her husband during his battle against cancer, in her filing, she cites “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split. She also listed the official date of the couple’s separation as Aug. 9.
