Mani Ratnam film Refused By Sonam!

Sonam Kapoor said blunt no to the Mani Ratnam’s project which is under the direction by Mani’s assistant Shiva.

In case there exists a one film-maker in the wishlist of every actor to work with, be it a Mumbai superstar or a Chennai famous God, then actually it is Mani Ratnam. Therefore, Mani himself took a step ahead to start the work for this former assistant Siva, who is directing his debut with Paki. As Mani decided to do it himself, no-one actually had a doubt for the movie getting the best suited stars without any hassles.

The movie is a biopic been scripted by Mani Ratnam himself. It’s based on an actual story of his close friend which made this a venture very close to Mani’s heart. The movie got Vivek Oberoi who has previously worked with Mani in Yuva. While, Shaad Ali, who was said to be having a cold war with Vivek since the sets of Saathiya, he also left the matter and joined the venture as the executive director.

However when Mani Ratnam advanced to Sonam Kapoor for offering the main female lead role, it came as a shock to him when she bluntly refused.

Spokesperson for Sonam confirmed the same and said that yes Sonam was offered the movie but she refused because she didn’t like the character.

The continuous happenings of such proceedings have created a wave in the industry. Its been said that Sonam can actually lead up to make her career suffer by refusing a Mani Ratnam’s movie when she herself is only 2 movies old.
