Melissa Etheridge Ends Partnership with Tammy Lynn Michaels

It has become known to the press that on Friday Melissa Etheridge appeared in court to put a formal end to her partnership with Tammy Lynn Michaels. The star is claiming joint custody of their children, the twins, who are three years old.

The famous 49-year-old singer filed her Petition for Dissolution of Domestic Partnership in the County Superior Court of Los Angeles in which she indicated irreconcilable differences as the reason of their break up. Moreover, she requested the judges not to provide Michaels with any financial support.

The information appeared in newspapers that after nine years of relationship, Melissa Etheridge and 35-year-old Tammy Lynn Michaels split up this year. They officially registered in August 2005 as domestic partners. They gave birth to two children – daughter Johnnie and son Miller in 2006.

We know that the couple announced that they were going to separate in April. Michaels wrote in his blog that the break-up was neither amicable nor mutual, whereas Etheridge claimed just the opposite. However, the character of their split-up is of no importance now, because the final decision to separate has already been taken and it is up to the court to define who will take full custody of their little twins.
