Singer Olivia Newton-John’s ex-lover Patrick McDermott has offered a DNA sample to prove once and for all that he is still alive.

According to the Herald Sun, the light technician, who had famously disappeared in July 2005, has insisted that he wants nothing more to do with Newton-John, 61.

McDermott was thought to have faked his own death so his now-teenage son Chance could collect his life insurance, and he is believed to be leading a new life near the Mexican resort of Puerto Vallarta on the Pacific coast under a new name, “Pat Kim”.

Emails reveal private investigators want a saliva swab from Chance to help them verify a DNA sample McDermott has promised to deliver.

“He has offered a DNA sample from a mouth swab. However, we have nothing to compare it to,” News.com.au quoted Private investigator Phil Klein, hired by a US TV network to find McDermott, as saying.

“Mr McDermott made it very clear that he has had no need for communication with anyone associated with her (Newton-John).

“He made that clear the day he broke up with her and through his counsel – his counsel says so,” he added.

Klein has been in touch with a man in Mexico who represents McDermott, now 53. But McDermott has never been seen or heard from directly.
