A Catholic priest who spreads the word of Christ from the comfort of his skateboard has become the Web’s newest viral star.
Hungarian priest Zoltan Lendavi, 45, stars in YouTube.com’s “Funny Priest Skateboarding ” video. The bizarre clip features the clergyma talking to teenagers while doing tricks on his board. It’s all a part of Lendavi’s plan to get more teens interested in church. Lendavi said he was inspired by Saint Don Bosco, who used games to engage with young people in nineteenth-century Italy and whose name still graces youth centers around the world.
The plan seems to be working. The clip has received more than 170,000 views on YouTube over the past week and three teen boys who never attended church before are now regularly attendees at Mass.
“There are many ways skateboarding can help bring people closer to God….”
