Wait … did ‘Quantico’ just behead the first lady?
We knew “Quantico” would up their game for Season 2, but we never expected them to behead the first lady on national TV.
With a full year between the present timeline and the flash-forwards, we’re likely to get a fuller (and even more confusing) picture of what has lead to the events that trap Alex (Priyanka Chopra) and her new classmates inside the financial district with the president and a mysterious group of terrorists.

The premiere dropped hints about several characters, new and old, but so far we’re only suspicious of two of them.
First up is CIA training officer, Owen Hall (Blair Underwood). He’s in the perfect position to recruit new members to this rumored rogue division of the CIA, and he definitely doesn’t seem cuddly. Scolding Alex for saving the life of a fellow recruit — even if that recruit so happened to be an undercover officer herself — seems like something an evil mastermind would do.
However, for now we’re going to hesitantly call him a red herring. There’s always a chance the man who recruited Alex in the first place, Matthew Keyes (Henry Czerny), could be a suspect.
Most of our suspicion this year falls on Ryan (Jake McLaughlin). The premiere did an excellent job of convincing us Ryan is not to be trusted, and after tricking that lie detector test, we’re not so confident in his allegiance anymore. He may be dreamy with his talk of honesty and engagement rings, but we’re wary.
Why did he volunteer to trick the terrorists? Where did he learn to lie like that? And who is this mysterious “she” they kept referencing in their pre-terrorism chat?

These are all very important questions we’re going to keep in the back of our minds the next time Ryan does something shady regarding these masked murderers. After all, Nimah (Yasmine Al Massri) admitted that while they were speaking Swahili, they were definitely not native to the language.
Could they be rogue CIA agents, trying to create panic and confusion in order to loosen the restrictions on the company?
More importantly, is Ryan one of them?
“Quantico” airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
