Jackie Evancho, the 10-year-old opera-singing prodigy with the vocal prowess of a woman twice her age, may have lost the grand prize during the fifth season of America’s Got Talent, but she won the hearts of millions scored a recording contract in the process!
Evancho — whose YouTube video performances have amassed more than 30 million views on line — has inked a deal with SYCO/Columbia Records, home to artists like Il Divo and Susan Boyle.
“Jackie has a rare and precious talent and we are excited to help develop that talent in her future recording career!” Rob Stringer, Chairman, Columbia/Epic Label Group, said of the young soprano.
The tween’s parents — Mike and Lisa Evancho of Pittsburgh — are just as pleased as punch for their talented little girl.
“It’s already been an amazing journey for Jackie and we are so proud of and happy for her. Everyone at SYCO/Columbia shares our excitement about her future and we are pleased and honored to be working with such a great music company.”
Jackie was first runner-up to 30-year-old soul singer Michael Grimm during last month’s Talent finale.
She is currently working on her debut album.
