Producers of FOX’s longrunning crime series America’s Most Wanted have commissioned an Asian spinoff of the program.
AMW is planning to launch an Asian version of the show — which calls on the viewers to phone in tips to track down fugitives — in Hong Kong. According to a new report, FBI agent-turned-crime crusader John Walsh is reportedly negotiating with Asian network Star TV to produce Asia’s Most Wanted, although a premiere date has not yet been set. The new program would see producers working with local law enforcement to determine the fugitives who would be featured on the show.
“We have helped capture dangerous fugitives in Britain, Germany and Japan. The next plan is to make the show truly global,” Walsh tells The Evening Standard.
America’s Most Wanted has helped capture 1,130 fugitives and 61 abducted children since its premiere in 1988.
