2016 MTV Video Music Awards: Where to watch and live stream info

On Sunday evening (Aug. 28), the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards will be airing live from Madison Square Garden in New York City. The is the first time the ceremony has taken place at this venue and — with the stacked line-up of performers, presenters and nominees — the anything-can-happen vibe for which the event is famous for is alive and well.

Since there is no designated host this year, a continuous wave of celebrity cameos is promised throughout the highly-anticipated evening that celebrates rock, music and pop-culture.

Viewers looking to check out the early action of the night can start watching the red carpet arrivals at 6:15 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, along with DJ Khaled’s pre-show which starts at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

The main event kicks off at 9 p.m. ET/PT and will be available to watch on MTV, BET, CMT, Comedy Central, Logo, Spike, TV Land and VH1. A live steam of the even will be available on MTV’s website here beginning at 7 p.m. ET/PT. A post-show will also be available to stream via MTV’s Facebook page.

Beyonce leads the pack this year with an impressive 11 nominations, and according to the LA Times, she will also be performing. Queen Bey has reportedly been in “top- secret rehearsals,” for a surprise “Lemonade” inspired show. MTV posted the below teaser photo on Instagram on Saturday.

Confirmed performers for the evening include Britney Spears with G-Easy, Nick Jonas with Ty Dolla $ign, Future, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj are performing together and The Chainsmokers will be joining Halsey in a number, as well.  Rihanna will not only be opening the show, she will be receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

Kanye West has been given an open slot of stage time to do whatever it is that he wants, which will be … something. For those wondering if his perpetual rival Taylor Swift will also be in attendance — the answer, unfortunately, is no.

However, notable celebs that will be handing out Moonmen include Jimmy Fallon, Michael Phelps, all the ladies from the “Final Five” women’s gymnastics team, Naomi Campbell, Alicia Keys, Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs, Rita Ora, Fifth Harmony, Jaden Smith, Kim Kardashian-West and Hailee Steinfeld.
