7 must-have Britney Spears songs for James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke

Curating the perfect playlist — or mix tape, if you’re old — is always a tense proposition. One wrong move derails the whole compilation.

That’s why Zap2it is here to help James Corden, the “Late Late Show” host who announced Wednesday (Aug. 10) that his latest Carpool Karaoke companion is none other than Britney Spears herself.

The pop star has been the lead artist on 39 singles, so that is quite the catalogue to draw from. And it’s tough to find the right balance between old-school Britney and more current Britney.

Plus, you have to consider which songs you’d like to hear Corden belt out — because some of Spears’ songs are a hilarious proposition in that regard.

With that in mind, here are Zap2it’s Top 7 choices for Britney’s turn in the Karaokemobile.

‘(You Drive Me) Crazy’

They’ve gotta pick one from her debut album, “Baby One More Time” album and the title track seems like the obvious choice, but “Crazy” is so much more fun. It would be a great number to kick things off with.

‘Oops … I Did It Again’

At the risk of causing a possible accident, we want to see Brit-Brit and Corden do the famous moves from this video.

‘Toxic’

If we were forced to name the hands-down most fun song in Spears’ repertoir, this one would top the list. It has an insanely catchy hook and you know James Corden knows allllll the words.

‘Womanizer’ and ‘Circus’

Britney’s 2008 “Circus” album really felt like her big comeback, so it would be a shame not to include some tracks from it. We’re torn between these two, so maybe they would find time to do both.

‘Work Bitch’

This song is full of swag and sass that not only do we want to hear Britney sing it, but we can’t wait to hear James Corden tell us to “work, bitch.”

‘Make Me…’

Carpool Karaoke is obviously tied to the release of this latest single, which drops the day after Carpool Karaoke airs. It’s a song about demanding sexual satisfaction and it features rapper G-Eazy on the track — let’s see about Corden’s rapping skills, right?

Britney’s Carpool Karaoke airs Thursday, Aug. 25 on “The Late Late Show with James Corden.”
