A 'Fantastic Beasts' Sequel Written By J.K Rowling Will Hit Theaters in 2018

Although the final Harry Potter movie hit theaters five years ago, the wizarding hype is still very much a part of our lives. There’s a new Potter play out in London (its script is now in bookstores) that catches up with Harry Potter and his friends 19 years after we last left them. Plus, we’re only a couple of months away from the debut of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a Potter prequel starring Eddie Redmayne that’s based on a script written by J.K. Rowling, adapted from her own 2001 book of the same name.

While we wait for news of the inevitable adaptation of that play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Warner Bros. is moving full steam ahead on a sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, again written by J.K. Rowling and just handed a November 16, 2018 release date.

THR describes the continuation by saying it goes “deeper into an increasingly dark time for the wizarding world, where Newt and the story’s other heroes have to decide on their allegiances.”

No word yet on returning cast members (David Yates will once again direct) or just how many of these Fantastic Beasts movies we’re going to get, but the fact that the sequel is already in the works prior to the first one hitting theaters is a good sign that everyone is happy with what we’re about to see come this November 18.
