‘Arrow’ casts Talia al Ghul: What you need to know about Ra’s al Ghul’s other daught…

Highlight on New Movie Released DVD

The al Ghul is about to make their presence felt in Star City once again. “Arrow” is introducing another daughter of the nefarious Ra’s al Ghul (Matt Nable). Talia al Ghul will debut in episode 10 of Season 5, which happens to be the winter premiere.

In a release from The CW, it’s revealed that she’ll be played by “Stargate SG-1” and “Continuum” star Lexa Doig. According to a release, Talia — who is the half-sister of Nyssa al Ghul — is “worldly and cultured, Talia is an elite warrior who doesn’t pick sides but rather creates her own. She will initially appear in episode 510 and appear in multiple episodes.”

One thing that description doesn’t do it provide a hint of whether she’ll be a help or a hindrance to Team Arrow as they battle Prometheus, Tobias Church (Chad L. Coleman) and whatever else is coming their way this season. If Talia’s comic book history is any indication, she’s not going to be an ally Oliver (Stephen Amell), Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and Diggle (David Ramsey) can count on.

In the comics, Talia is sometimes portrayed as an anti-hero but is more often the villain of the story. That shouldn’t come as much of a surprise given her family lineage and connection to the League of Assassins. Traditionally, she’s closely identified with Batman, rather than the Green Arrow: In fact, she’s sometimes a love interest for the Batman and the mother of his child, Damien Wayne.

Don’t expect Oliver to step into Bruce Wayne’s shoes in this instance, though. After all, he was previously married to her sister Nyssa and the last thing Oliver needs is another tie to the League.

If Prometheus is the threat to Star City, and the team, that we’re being led to believe he is, the League might be exactly what he needs — or maybe Doig’s Talia is just coming to avenge the death of her father. Either way, the role is said to recur, so she’ll be sticking around for a while.

Interestingly enough, this isn’t the first time the character has appeared in the “Arrow”-verse. She was shown as a young girl, played by Milli Wilkinson, in the “Legends of Tomorrow” Season 1 episode “Left Behind.” Fans of the Batman franchise will also remember that Marion Cotillard played the role in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises” in 2012.

Get ready, “Arrow” fans. Things are about to get intense when another al Ghul warrior comes to town.

“Arrow” airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on the CW.
