The newest fruit of multi-Emmy-winning Golden Girl’s career resurgence has manifested itself in the form of Female Force: Betty White, a new 32-page comic biography from the company that spearheaded graphic novels inspired by pop sensation Lady Gaga and political barracuda Sarah Palin.
Written by Patrick McCray and illustrated by Todd Tennant, Female Force aims to chronicle the 88-year-old comedy icon’s amazing career in showbuisness, beginning with White’s days providing voiceover talent for the radio show Blondie through her appearances on hit sitcoms like The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Mama’s Family.
“Working on the Betty book was an honor and a blast,” McCray says. “While covering a new entertainer is always fun, there is something special about profiling an icon. Not only did it allow me to savor nostalgia, it also let me catch up on areas of pop culture that had passed me by.”
Female First: Betty White will retail for $3.99 when it goes on sale in November.
