Beyonce “I Am…World Tour” DVD Double Platinum

The music industry may be suffering a Great Depression, but it’ll be a long time before Madame Creole — also known as Beyonce Knowles-Carter — has to lament about “Bills, Bills, Bills.”

The “Single Ladies” hitmaker’s latest concert DVD has moved 2 million copies after just two weeks on shelves.

Beyonce’s I Am… World Tour — the ABC special that provided a soundtrack for pop/R&B lovers on Thanksgiving night — not only bested a similar music special hosted by country cutie Taylor Swift — it’s gone double platinum on the Nielson SoundScan Music DVD chart following the DVD’s initial Nov. 26 release. The deluxe DVD/Soundtrack edition dropped last Tuesday, Nov. 30, and the DVD is currently holding the No. 1 position on Nielson SoundScan Music DVD chart.

I Am… arrived on Blu-ray on Dec. 7.

Beyonce directed and produced the footage herself. The special — which was the second most-watched show of the night, right behind the NFL on NBC — showed footage from all 108 shows the star performed at during her 2009 I Am…Tour, which touched down in 32 cities and 6 continents! The DVD is a companion to Beyonce’s last studio album, I Am . . . Sasha Fierce, whose sales have totaled more than 6 million copies and 15 million digital singles worldwide.

Of course, platinum plagues are Uniquely Beyonce as towering heels and flawless lacefronts. The ex-Child of Destiny has sold more than 130 million albums worldwide.
