Bret Michaels — The Glam Rocker with Nine Lives — is scheduled to undergo surgery to repair a heart defect early next year.
The Poison frontman will undergo an operation to repair a hole in his heart in January, according to his rep. After suffering a near-fatal brain hemorrhage last April, Bret battled back to make a remarkable recovery and win top honors on Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice. Michaels has had the heart condition since he was born, but only recently discovered the defect after being treated for a warning stroke in May. He is said to be in “good spirits” — in spite of the challenges that likely lay ahead.
“Is he 100 percent? No, but he’s in good spirits, he’s having fun on the road, he loves his fans and has always said music heals him,” Bret’s rep told RadarOnline.com Wednesday.
“He said that there are times when, of course, he worries but he has great people around him and he’s very cautious. Maybe sometimes he gets a little tired easier and on occasion he’ll get a headache, but that’s when he knows it’s time to rest. He’ll rest up, have surgery, take some time off hopefully take a family vacation and get back on the road touring and promoting his upcoming book.”
Michaels is currently circling the US on his Roses & Thorns Solo Tour.
