Newlywed Carrie Underwood’s about to save a whole lotta dough on long-distance calls!
On Thursday, the American Idol star’s professional hockey player hubby, Mike Fisher, was traded from the NHL’s Ottawa Senators to the Nashville Predators — just a stone’s throw from the Tennessee suburb where he’s lived with Underwood since their wedding last July.
“We will both truly miss Ottawa. Mike has been such a big part of the community, and I will never forget how they welcomed me with open arms,” says the country superstar, who began dating Mike after they met at one of her concerts in 2008. “We obviously love Nashville, and the teams’ decision for him to now play with the Predators is an exciting opportunity for Mike. I support him wherever he plays!”
Mike had been a star player for The Senators since they drafted him in 1998.
