Jurors sat transfixed in court Wednesday as an audio tape of Casey Anthony was played in her murder trial.
Just hours before she was arrested in the disappearance of her daughter Caylee, Casey was interviewed by Detective Yuri Melich.

During their conversation, Casey insisted that she was “telling the truth” when she claimed her nanny Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez had kidnapped the little girl while she was at her job at Universal Orlando, and that she’d met Zenaida through her boyfriend Jeffrey Hopkins.
Anthony stuck to that story until her trial began last month, almost three years since her arrest. And as the world now knows, neither Fernandez-Gonzalez or Hopkins exits, and Anthony didn’t have a job at Universal.

Casey’s brother Lee Anthony also testified Wednesday, and he recalled the day his sister revealed that Caylee was missing.
“She told me that she had not seen Caylee in 31 days, that she had been kidnapped and that the nanny took her.”

Casey showed absolutely no emotion at the time, Lee Anthony testified.
Lee Anthony never once looked at his sister while he was on the stand, eyewitnesses reported.

In his opening statement, Casey’s defense attorney said that his client’s elaborate lies were a defense system for combating years of abuse at the hands of her father and an attempted sexual abuse by her brother. Both men have adamantly denied they ever abused Casey in any way.
