(Sigh) Do we really need another CHIPs?
We hear Topher Grace, former star of That ’70s Show, is working on the frontlines to bring one of the most beloved series from the decade of platform shoes and bell-buttoms back to the tube.
Grace is in early chats to executive produce a reboot of the police comedy-drama that is reportedly being developed by Warner Bros. Television, according to Deadline.com.
The original series, which starred Erik Estrada and Larry Wilcox as two motorcycle police officers from the California Highway Patrol, ran on NBC from 1977 to 1983.
This is at least the third time in the past decade that The Television Gods have convened to bring CHIPs back from the dead. In fact, in 2005, Topher’s former That ’70s Show co-star Wilmer Valderamma was once a favorite to play Ponch on a revival of the series.
