Christina Aguilera will perform our National Anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner,” at next month’s Super Bowl XLV, according to reports.

The blogosphere is atwitter with buzz that the multi-awarded Aguilera, who saw her 2010 comeback project — Bionic, bomb on the pop charts last year, is tipped to open the NFL’s championship game with her rendition of the patriotic tune. Xtina sang the anthem twice during last year’s NBA playoffs.

“The FOX broadcast lists a 6:25 p.m. kickoff, which would put the pop superstar and Grammy Award winner on the field singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” shortly before the AFC and NFC champions roll out,” HitFix.com said Wednesday.

Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce, and Whitney Houston are among the other singing superstars who have sung the National Anthem during the Super Bowl. In fact, Houston’s version of “The Star-Spangled Banner” — circa 1991 –is considered on of the best-performed in American history.

The 2011 Super Bowl kicks off at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington Texas on Feb. 6.
