Eighties child star Corey Feldman is livid that Corey Haim, his best friend and co-star in teen classics like The Lost Boys, was conspiciously missing from the annual In Memoriam tribute at Sunday’s 2011 Academy Awards.

Each year, the Academy of Motion Picture & Film Sciences pays tribute to the work of late Hollywood stars who passed away in the preceding year. Feldman had hoped to toast Haim, who passed away suddenly last March 11 after years of drug abuse, but was stunned when the former heartthrob’s life wasn’t highlighted in montage-form as Celine Dion crooned Charlie Chaplin’s “Smile.”

“Corey’s films have earned the industry over a half a billion dollars and his work remains an inspiration to young artists worldwide,” Feldman fumed on Monday. “Corey dedicated his life to the film industry. The same industry that failed to dedicate even 30 seconds to his memory.”

Oscars producers say while they’re sorry about the omission — among several others — they simply can’t honor everyone.

“There will always be fans and family members of those not included who will be disappointed by their omission. The Academy extends its understanding and its apologies to those who missed seeing a favorite face in this year’s feature.”

It’s not the first time this year Haim, who would have turned 39 this year, was ignored by the film industry that he helped drive 25 years ago. The long-troubled Lucas actor also wasn’t deemed deserving of a mention during January’s Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Among those dearly departed Tinseltown staples recognized by the Academy in the Oscars In Memoriam Tribute were Dennis Hopper, Leslie Nielsen, Tony Curtis, Lena Horne, Jill Clayburgh, and publicist Ronni Chasen.
