Could Alex Danvers & Sara Lance ever get together?
The epic four-part crossover event on “Supergirl,” “The Flash,” “Arrow” and “Legends of Tomorrow” brought together so many DC superheroes, we’re still reeling from the awesome experience. On top of just being a genuinely entertaining four hours, the crossovers gave us quite a few developments we need to talk about.
First off, Kara (Melissa Benoist) is now acquainted with all the main characters of the “Arrow-verse,” meaning she could show up on any of the CW’s superhero shows. She’s also got a nifty new device that will allow her to travel back and forth from her Earth to Earth-1, making these kinds of crossovers much easier.
We’ve still got a musical crossover with “Supergirl” and “The Flash” to look forward to, but we’d be surprised if that’s the only other appearance Kara makes on Earth-1 the rest of the season.

If we had to write a crossover bucket list, we’d put a “Supergirl” and “Legends of Tomorrow” crossover at the top.
Given the ease with which Kara can move back and forth between worlds, we’re hoping his kind of crossover would open the door for two particular characters to meet. Alex Danvers (Chyler Leigh) and Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) present an interesting opportunity for both shows, especially since we’re already kind of ‘shipping those two characters.
Sara has been a bisexual character on “Arrow” and “Legends of Tomorrow” for years, but Alex recently coming out to her friends and family as gay has us wondering whether this ship could work. Both women have strong personalities — and even stronger butt-kicking abilities — but they’ve also got one huge thing in common: Unconditional love for their sisters.
Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) may be gone, but if the 100th episode of “Arrow” taught us anything, it’s the Laurel will always be a huge part of Sara’s life. If anyone could understand Alex’s tendency to sacrifice everything to protect her sister, it’s Sara.
Moreover, both “Supergirl” and “Legends of Tomorrow” have incorporated love stories for their characters without making them the focus of the show. With Alex and Sara living on different worlds (sometimes in different times), they could be together without having to find a way to write their relationship into every single episode. Long distance may be tough in reality, but it’s a pretty ideal situation for TV romance.

According to executive producer Marc Guggenheim, a quick nod to the possibility of Sara and Alex was one of the scenes that got cut from the crossover for time.
“There was a little exchange between Sara and Kara that I really liked — I don’t think we even filmed it — where Sara says, ‘Hey do you want to get a drink when this is all over,’ and Kara says, ‘I think you wanna meet my sister,’” Guggenheim says. “Just the idea of starting the Sara/Alex shippers going… It’s those little moments that wound up on the cutting room floor.”
For now, Alex is still discovering her sexuality and starting a relationship with Maggie (Floriana Lima), so any future romance with Sara is a ways down the road. Still, we’re happy to hear that the possibility of these two fierce females starting something up is on the writers’ minds at all.
“Supergirl” airs Mondays, “Legends of Tomorrow” Thursdays, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
