Late-night funny guy David Letterman says he takes medication to help treat the effects of depression.
The Late Show host made the confession during a Barbara Walters/ABC News special about heart disease, which aired on the network last Friday night. Letterman underwent life-saving heart surgery in 2000 and chatted candidly with Walters about his bleek outlook after the surgery.
“Yes, I’m on medicinal help,” he told Walters when asked whether or not he takes anti-depressants. “Depression is a black hole… I’ve dabbled in it. There’s a difference in being sad and being blue and being depressed and being chemically or clinically depressed. I do know the difference between those and it’s horrifying.”
