Demi Lovato Goes Blonde for New ‘X Factor’ Gig

New job, new hair color! At the FOX upfronts in New York City on Monday, Demi Lovato was announced as one of the new X Factor judges — and debuted new blonde locks, too.

Before her trip to New York, the singer popped into West Hollywood’s Nine Zero One Salon Friday night, where her hair was transformed from brunette to blonde and blonde extensions were added. According to a source, the starlet said this is the lightest her hair has ever been — and she wants to keep it this way for her upcoming tour, which kicks off in Del Mar, Calif., next month.

Last year, Lovato tried red hair temporarily, going blonde several months later and eventually returning to her natural brunette hue.

At Monday’s upfronts — where Britney Spears was introduced as a new judge, too — Lovato expressed her excitement about the new job. “I am totally stoked to be here,” she told the crowd. “I’m excited to represent my generation and I’m ready to find the winner.”

The X Factor, which also stars Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid, returns to FOX later this year.
