Dominic Sherwood & Katherine McNamara tease ‘Shadowhunters’ family reunion
After finding out Jace (Dominic Sherwood) and Clary (Katherine McNamara) were actually brother and sister in Season 1, we didn’t think the family dynamics on “Shadowhunters” could get any more messed up.
Season 2 is about to seriously prove us wrong though, as a Morgenstern family reunion is headed our way, and it doesn’t sounds like it’s going to be all happy tears and snuggles.

In case you’d forgotten, Valentine (Alan Van Sprang) revealed himself to be Jace’s father, having used the alias of Michael Wayland to hide from the Clave. To add insult to injury, Valentine then kidnapped Jace — with the threat of killing Jace’s friends as his trump card — and now he plans to have his devoted son by his side as he builds a new army of shadowhunters with the Mortal Cup.
On the female side of the family, Clary finally woke Jocelyn (Maxim Roy) up from her season-long slumber and reunited with her beloved mother. Unfortunately, their happy reunion might be short-lived.
“Jocelyn still sees Clary as the little girl she was at the beginning of Season 1, but she’s not that person anymore,” McNamara says. “She’s grown up. She’s starting to become a shadowhunter, and getting her mother to trust her in that way and see her in that way is a huge obstacle.”

The season premiere will finally put all four of these star-crossed siblings and ex-lovers — Clary, Jace, Valentine, and even Jocelyn — face to face. According to Sherwood and McNamara, it’s going to be tense to say the least.
“We don’t really talk so much but something happens at the end of [episode] one,” Sherwood says. “I get communicated at. I think that’s the best way to put it.”
We’re going to go out on a limb and say that getting “communicated at” is never a nice thing when you come from a whole family of master fighters.
“Shadowhunters” returns Jan. 2, 2017 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Freeform.
