‘Drunk History’ flips the gender script for ‘Hamilton’ episode
“Hamilton” has always taken a progressive step forward in its casting of non-white actors, but now the story is taking things a step further. In the highly anticipated “Drunk History” episode, female actors will play the roles of Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr.
Alia Shawkat (“Arrested Development”) will portray Alexander Hamilton, while Aubrey Plaza (“Parks & Rec.”) will play Hamilton’s life-long friend and nemesis, Aaron Burr.

Now that we’ve got our male leads cast with leading ladies, we’re curious who will play our leading ladies in this version of events on “Drunk History,” — and if they’ll even be ladies at all.
If Plaza and Shawkat can put on pantaloons and cravats to play founding fathers, who’s to say that a few dedicated men can’t pull on frocks and petticoats to play their female counterparts? In “Hamilton’s” case, we’re talking about The Schuyler Sisters, Eliza, Angelica and Peggy.
Angelica
We’ve always been a fan of Justin Long’s “Drunk History” episodes, so we’d love to see him return for the Alexander Hamilton episode. Also, if Lin-Manuel Miranda starts rapping Angelica’s parts, he’s the one we want to see trying to keep up with it.
Eliza
Anthony Anderson is someone we’ve always wanted to see on “Drunk History.” His comedic timing would be a perfect fit for the lip-syncing show, and if he gets to make his debut in a dress as the wife of Alia Shawkat, then that’s just icing on the cake.
Peggy
Peggy probably won’t matter as much as Maria Reynolds (who is played by the same actress as Peggy in the Broadway show), but both roles should definitely be played by Lamorne Morris. We’re not sure which version of events Lin-Manuel Miranda will tell, but Morris portraying a seductive Maria Reynolds is a win-win situation for everyone.
“Drunk History” Season 4 will premiere Tuesday, September 27, on Comedy Central.
