Dustin Hoffman will reprise his role in the third installment of the Meet the Parents franchise, Entertainment Weekly has confirmed.
Following months of legal wrangling, the award-winning actor has finally agreed to reprise his role as Ben Stiller’s eccentric dad Bernie in Little Fockers. Hoffman’s return comes after producers agreed to pony up a satisfactory salary for his work. According to Deadline Hollywood, the 73-year-old actor — who was written out of the film’s first cut when Universal failed to reach a deal with him — has been convinced to join the film for a deal that is “not dissimilar to what we were pitching him in the beginning.”
“It’s costing what we were going to pay him in the first place.”
Hoffman will appear in four additional scenes in the upcoming comedy, including a pair alongside Barbra Streisand, who played his on-screen wife Rozalin Focker in 2004’s Meet the Fockers.
Little Fockers — starring Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Teri Polo, Blythe Danner, and Jessica Alba — opens in theaters Dec. 22.
