Entertainment Television — popularly known simply as E! — is teaming up with American Idol host/radio & TV personality Ryan Seacrest to produce the network’s first dance competition, The Hollywood Reporter dished on Wednesday.

E! has ordered a pilot for a project — co-starring acclaimed choreographer Laurie Ann Gibson — that will rival hit television dance shows, including ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD) on FOX, and Dance Your Ass Off, Oxygen’s fleet-footed answer to The Biggest Loser.

Gibson previously appeared as the head hoofer in charge on MTV’s Making the Band. In addition to choreographing music videos for Lady Gaga’s charttoppers “Paparazzi,” “Telephone,” and “LoveGame,” Gibson also developed a routine for SYTYCD in 2009.

The as-yet-titled project will revolve around choreographers and dancers in Los Angeles.

Seacrest’s production studio has a long history with the E!. Other Seacrest-produced series which have been greelighted by the network include Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami, Denise Richards: It’s Complicated, and Bank of Hollywood.
