When Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Catriona McGinn exchanged vows on Saturday in Santa Ynez, Calif., they also exchanged heartfelt symbols of their love: handcrafted wedding bands. Handmade in platinum by jeweler Neil Lane, the one-of-a-kind bands were a true collaboration between Lane, Gosselaar and his advertising executive bride.
“They were very specific about their rings, wanted something very special and were so excited to be a part of the designing process,” Lane tells PEOPLE exclusively. “Mark-Paul wanted something strong and stylish and, right from the start, Catriona knew she wanted something very romantic and very sparkly to complement her cushion-cut diamond engagement ring,” also designed by Lane.
The result? For the Franklin & Bash star, a wide platinum band with a burnished matte texture “to give it a cool, contemporary edge,” says the celebrity jeweler. And for Catriona, a roughly 3-carat eternity band set with dozens of small diamonds on all three sides “so everywhere you look you can see diamonds continuously sparkling,” Lane adds. (The bride capped off her romantic wedding look with Lane’s 10-carat diamond earrings, below, which have a 1920s vintage feel).

Much like their choice of bands, the couple is “very romantic,” says Lane, who worked closely with them over the last month. “Mark-Paul had worked alone on designing her surprise engagement ring but for the bands, they got to come in together, which is the fun part. They were so sweet and lovely together, holding hands and really excited about the wedding, planning every detail, excited to have found love. They were head over heels and really happy about their future together.”
