‘Family Guy’ and ‘American Dad’ episodes pulled after Newtown shootings

FOX has taken scheduled episodes of “Family Guy” and “American Dad” out of its Sunday lineup in the wake of the shootings in Newton, Conn.

The network will air repeats of the two shows instead out of concerns that the scheduled episodes contain some inappropriate content. The Futon Critic was the first to note the schedule change.

“Family Guy” was set to run an episode called “Jesus, Mary and Joseph!” Sunday (Dec. 16) in which Peter tells his own version of the nativity story. It’s being replaced by a repeat from last season, “Grumpy Old Man.”

The “American Dad” episode is called “Minstrel Krampus” and features a demon who punishes naughty children. In its place is the Season 6 episode “Wheels & The Legman and The Case of Grandpa’s Key.”

A rerun of “The Cleveland Show” scheduled for 7 p.m. ET Sunday has also been replaced by a different repeat.

FOX’s move follows Syfy pulling an episode of “Haven” that featured violence at a school and Paramount Pictures postponing the red-carpet premiere of Tom Cruise’s movie “Jack Reacher.”

There’s no word on when — or if — the yanked “Family Guy” and “American Dad” episodes might air.
