Find Out How Thor Winds Up a Gladiator in New 'Ragnarok' Plot Description
Yesterday we shared the first look at Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson and Cate Blanchett in Thor: Ragnarok care of Enteratainment Weekly‘s new cover. Now we have more details on the movie from inside the magazine (and EW.com). Here’s what we learned:
How does Thor get that haircut and lose Mjolnir?
He loses his long locks when he becomes a gladiator on Sakaar, which is also where he seems to lose his hammer.
But how does he wind up a gladiator on Sakaar?
Valkyrie (Thompson) spots him and brings him to the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum), who runs the battles.
But how does he wind on Sakaar in the first place?
The villain Hela (Blanchett) blasts him there during a battle on Asgard.

But how did he wind up in a fight with Hela on Asgard?
Hela managed to break from prison thanks to Loki being in charge of Asgard.
But how did Loki wind up in charge of Asgard?
Don’t you remember him disguising himself as Odin and taking over the throne in Thor: The Dark World?
But whatever became of Odin?
We will find out when Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), in one of the few Earth-set moments of Ragnarok, helps Thor find locate his father.
In #ThorRagnarok, Loki’s rather lax governing leads to the reemergence of an imprisoned Hela. https://t.co/jNsL6TxUuj

Is there anything else we learned?
Apparently Thor is a big fanboy when it comes to Valkyrie and her kind. Apparently she’s hiding out on Sakaar and drinking a lot. Apparently Hulk will have more personality than usual, and a swagger. Apparently Thor will be funnier. And apparently director Taika Waititi thinks Thor: Ragnarok will seem like a reboot of the series.
What are people saying about all these updates?
“The film will apparently not be set on Earth for any length of time, a departure from the first two Thor films. So that’s definitely a plus.” – Damion Damaske, JoBlo
“I actually liked the first two Thor films, but it sounds like this one is going to be the one that actually blows fans away.” – Joey Paur, Geek Tyrant
“Sounds like it’s going to be tons of fun for fans.” – Kevin Jagernauth, The Playlist
When can we see this thing already?
