Leonardo DiCaprio ends 2010 with a bang: The Inception star topped Forbes Magazine’s list of the year’s Highest-Grossing Star. Leo’s movies have earned $1.1 billion at the global box office, according to the Finance Bible.
DiCaprio has collaborated with high-profile directors over the course of his career and his Tinseltown connectiions have been especially lucrative over the past year. Leo teamed up Martin Scorsese for the psychological thriller Shutter Island and Christopher Nolan’s thrilling nailbiter Inception.
According to guidelines for Forbes’ list of the year’s Top-Grossing Celebs, the magazine looked only at box office gross which is essentially earnings for top films of the year, and then credited each the lead actress/actor.
The surprise entry at second is newcomer Mia Wasikowska, who took the leading role of Alice in Tim Burton’s fantasy epic Alice in Wonderland. The film grossed over $1 billion worldwide. Mia’s Alice co-star Johnny Depp came in third thanks to his role in the critically-panned The Tourist with Angelina Jolie.
Daniel Radcliffe, Robert Pattinson, Sam Worthington, and Jackie Chan are among the international actors making the list. Robert edged out onscreen girlfriend Kristen Stewart, thanks to the success of his 9/11 drama Remember Me and his work in the summer blockbuster The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

Once upon a time, Leonardo DiCaprio was the ultimate heartthrob. He even played a troubled teenager on the popular ’80s sitcom Growing Pains. But Leo-Mania really began in 1997, when DiCaprio played romantic lead Jack Dawson in James Cameron’s Titanic. Leo’ll next appear on the big screen in J. Edgar, a biopic directed by Clint Eastwood about the controversial career and mysterious private life of J. Edgar Hoover, the first director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
