‘Good Behavior’ nails female friendship with Letty & Tiffany
The sixth episode of “Good Behavior,” “We Pretend We’re Stuck,” is largely about Letty’s (Michelle Dockery) latest attempt to see her son, Jacob (Nyles Julian Steele) — and possibly have him back in her life for good.
But spending the day with a moody preteen is never easy, and Letty finally gets her true taste of motherhood, admitting to her mom (Lusia Strus) that Jacob kind of annoyed her all day.
Meanwhile, alongside that big A-plot is a brief diversion back into Tiffany’s (Collette Wolfe) life — and we’d like to take a minute to praise yet another relationship “Good Behavior” has nailed.
It was so disheartening two episodes ago when the friendship was seemingly ruined after Tiffany’s husband, Kyle (Justin Bruening) kissed Letty — firstly, because the Letty/Tiffany friendship was so great; secondly, because Letty is so self-destructive; and thirdly, because it also felt very cliched, which is not a trap this show falls into much.

But how many female friendships on TV have we seen ruined because one of them kissed the other one’s man? Especially the scenario when the jilted friend walks in on it? It felt a little lazy on “Good Behavior’s” part, so it was nice to see the show pull out of that trope by having Tiffany show up at the ShopMaxx to get Jacob out of a shoplifting charge.
Instead of Letty thanking Tiffany and them sharing an icy goodbye, they actually sit down in Tiffany’s car and talk things out like adults. It helps that Tiffany now knows just what her husband has been up to, but it also feels like a situation where if someone is one of your oldest friends, there is very little you could really do to each other that the friendship could not recover from, so it was great to see that rift repaired.
We hope to see Tiffany again on the show, because in addition to Javier (Juan Diego Botto), seeing Tiffany on a regular basis would probably do wonders for Letty’s mental health and emotional stability…
Once she’s done helping her other BFF, parole officer Christian (Terry Kinney), out of the federal jam she sweetly helped him into!
“Good Behavior” airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on TNT.
