Hell finally comes to ‘Preacher’

It’s been a long time coming and during Sunday’s (July 24) episode of “Preacher,” titled “Finish the Song,” Hell came to Ratwater. Well, to be more specific, the city of Ratwater was actually the personal hell to The Cowboy (Graham McTavish).

After we saw his family parish when he left them to find a cure to his daughter’s disease, the man went on a killing spree. Living this nightmare on a perpetual loop, the man — better known as The Saint of Killers — knows nothing more than vengeance-fueled murder.

We finally got a full view of the man’s story and as the clips from previous episodes played in order, it helped to clinch his role in the ongoing supernatural story playing out on the AMC series.

While Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) was being nursed to health — in a very “Hellraiser”-style manner — DeBlanc (Anatol Yusef) and Fiore (Tom Brooke) found themselves at a crossroads of sorts. Either admit to their negligence to the higher-ups in heaven, or go to the other place to pursue a Plan B scenario.

Unfortunately for the two angels, Cassidy swiped their God Phone during the big angel fight that transpired at the hotel a few episodes ago … so Plan B it is!

With just one episode left in the season, it seems like we’ll finally be witnessing the storyline play out that follows The Saint of Killers as he destroys everything in his path to get to one Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper).

Since the story here has deviated from the original comic book subject matter, the way this all will go down is still anyone’s guess.

“Preacher” airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC.
