‘Hemlock Grove’ Season 2 threesome was for Roman and Peter, say stars

Roman Godfrey (Bill Skarsgard) and Peter Rumancek (Landon Liboiron) replaced one blonde for another in Season 2 of
“Hemlock Grove,” but Miranda (Madeline Brewer) brings the feuding friends together in a way Letha never could: At the end of episode 6, “Such Dire Stuff,” Miranda gets the two men she’s sleeping with to agree to a threesome.
“We’re suckers for blondes,” Skarsgard laughs to
Zap2it during an interview promoting the new season.

The threesome is an interesting turn for upir Roman and werewolf Peter’s relationship, but the two characters take it all in stride. The actors who play them, however, weren’t initially OK with the sexual hurdle the two were going to overcome.

“We had problems with it, actually, because when we read that, we were like, ‘This is bulls***, we’ve seen it before.’ We don’t want to be the f***ing love triangle drama that we saw in ‘Twilight’ and ‘Vampire Diaperies.’ That whole thing of a girl in the middle with two frowny-looking guys,” Skarsgard says. “Luckily that wasn’t the point of the threesome, and it wasn’t the point of establishing this kind of love triangle thing.”

And yes,
“Vampire Diaries” fans, those are fighting words. “Let’s start a war!” Liboiron says in response to the “Diaperies” comment. “Each team has a ‘Degrassi’ alumni on it!”
“Twilight” and “The Vampire Diaries” aren’t the only two supernatural franchises that Skarsgard was taking aim at. He also knows that “Hemlock Grove” treated the situation differently than his brother Alexander Skarsgard’s TV show
“True Blood” would.

“It would be interesting to see how that sex scene played out,” Skarsgard says of the threesome, which “Hemlock Grove” picks up after the fact in episode 7, “Lost Generation.” “‘True Blood’ would have shown it for sure.”

As fun as Roman and Peter having sex with one another for the sake of a girl is, Skarsgard and Liboiron think that the threesome was much more about getting the two guys together than it was their interest in Miranda. Skarsgard says the “love was just between Roman and Peter,” and quips that Miranda was “the third wheel.”

More seriously, Liboiron notes that the threesome is “a symbol of them uniting back into a team” after six episodes at odds with one another. Skarsgard adds, “The audience will feel, ‘Oh finally, they’re united.'”

“Hemlock Grove” Season 2 is currently streaming in its entirety on Netflix.
