Howard Stern Comic Book Biography

The scariest man on the airwaves is getting animated this spring! Radio shock jock Howard Stern is coming to a comic book stand near you, thanks to Bluewater Productions.

The self-dubbed “King of All Media” is the latest subject of a biographical comic book from the graphic novel firm, the company said Wednesday. Stern will see his life story play out in the pages of a comic book set for release in April. The book, which will retail for $3.99, will chronicle Stern’s rise to fame on New York City radio and his no-holds barred approach to broadcasting. They’ll also be a few paragraphs about the shock jock’s move to Sirius Satellite Radio in 2006, following years of racking up fines and injuctions on terrestrial radio.

“He is the voice of a generation, the voice of dissent, the voice of the people. He says what we all want to say and does what we all want to do…and people love him for it,” says CW Cooke, who penned the Stern biography. “He’s been in the public eye for years, but he’s still an enigma.”

The comic — titled Orbit: Howard Stern — is the first release under the new “Orbit” imprint of animated biographies, succeeding Bluewater’s existing “Female Force,” “Fame,” and “Political Power” divisions.

“We are launching ‘Orbit’ with a skew towards a more male demographic,” explains Bluewater president Darren Davis. “When we weighed the possibilities of featuring people like Stern, LeBron James, Gary Gygax and JRR Tolkien into our existing titles, the tone and tenor didn’t match. Their enduring popularity and contributions to popular culture are worthy of coverage, but they needed a different voice in which to present the material. ‘Orbit’ fits that bill.”
