Hank Jones passed away in the Cavalry Hospital Hospice, Bronx at the age of 91. His death was announced by his manager, Jean-Pierre Leduc and Mr. Jones had lived in his Manhattan residence and also owned a home in Hartwick, New York.

His career was mostly shaped in the background and he almost spent 35 years being a side actor. And he was also noted for working as a studio musician on television. His imagination was admired by all his colleagues due to his malleability and unique style. He had the skills of Art Tatum.

It was at the age of 60 that the interests of music started to change as he shifted his interests to jazz piano. In the year 1989, after a performance at a nightclub of Mr. Jones, a journalist was all praise for him and was quoted saying that Jones was a fine musician and his music from the jazz piano brings back the history of jazz. He was the kind of person who presented himself gracefully even under the highest pressures.

Mr. Jones also gave a boost to his career by releasing a recorded series which took his talent to an upper level. This series also included an album which was created under the collaboration of West African musicians.
