Move over, Ashton! Jessica Alba is the newest Hollywood heavyweight producing a Twitter-based sitcom for CBS.
Don’t worry it’s not as bad as it sounds — the script has been written by Twitter comedienne Kelly Oxford. Alba is set to produce a sitcom, entitled Mother of All Something, based on Oxford’s dark brand of comedy. The show will focus on Oxford’s life as a mother of three, although she is not expected to star in the pilot herself. The Canadian stay-at-home mom got Hollywood’s attention after her 140-character witticisms on Twitter gained her feed more than 67,000 followers.
Some examples of Oxford’s side-splitting Tweets include: “If you hear a kid say he’s afraid of clowns or loud movies, he’s probably not from Darfur….” and “Get into the Christmas spirit by remembering how cool Joseph was about an invisible guy impregnating his lady Mary.”
“There is a huge difference between a Twitter concept being sold and a writer who Tweets selling a pilot. At least, I thought there was? But I just wanted to let you guys know CBS didn’t ‘buy’ my Twitter,” Oxford explained of the upcoming comedy.
The blogging mom is penning the script with Hollywood screenwriter Johni Marchinko, whose credits include Men in Trees and Will & Grace.
Mother of All Something is the fourth television comedy loosely based around the social networking site that is currently being adapted for the small screen — following the success of the Twitter-inspired sitcom $#*! My Dad Says.
Producers are eyeing a Fall 2011 premiere date.
