His “Baby” video has earned a record-setting 250 million views on YouTube, he’s inspired a legion of followers dubbed “Beliebers,” and there’s not a mall in America that he can set foot in without sparking mass hysteria. Now pop sensation Justin Bieber is taking his famous bowl cut to the small screen.

The 16-year-old Canadian will make his acting debut on the season premiere of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation this fall, CBS announced on Thursday. The “One Less Lonely Girl” singer has been cast as Jason McCann, a “troubled teen faced with a terrible decision regarding his only brother,” the network said in a presser.

Producers of the longrunning forensic crime drama called Bieber with the idea for the guest role.

“We’d like to believe that the phenomenon of ‘CSI’ has had the same impact on popular culture. The opportunity to bring them together in the premiere is a great treat for our audience and all of its new viewers. This will be true event television,” remarked show executive producers Carol Mendelsohn, Don McGill and Anthony Zuiker.

Biebs is preparing to debut his acting chops to the world by enlisting the help of an acting coach. (We can only hope his onscreen skills are better than that of his gal pal Kim Kardashian!)

“Morning world… we got the acting coach here… learning ‘a new craft,’” he Tweeted on Thursday.

Justin won’t be the first charttopping young musician to guest star on CSI: Grammy-winning country cutie Taylor Swift appeared on the show in March 2009.
