Kanye West will release the longest music video in history with the release of a 40-minute epic for his new “Runaway” single, NY Mag reported on Wednesday.
The music video will last just seconds longer than the currentl title-holder, Michael Jackson’s “Ghosts,” which timed in at 39 minutes and 31 seconds.
West said the film-noir-style movie will be an “epic piece of art” based on the new song he debuted at last weekend’s MTV Video Music Awards.
“It’s the story of a phoenix fallen to Earth, and I make her my girlfriend, and people discriminate against her and eventually she has to burn herself alive and go back to her world…I’ve been feeling the idea of the phoenix. It’s been in my heart for a while. It’s maybe parallel to my career. I threw a Molotov cocktail on my career last year, in a way, and I had to come back as a better person.”
The “Runaway” short film will feature supermodel Selita Ebanks. Filming is currently underway in Prague.
