Kapil Sibbal has a nick for experimenting in educational affairs of the country. He is the education minister and has been making some radical statements for making certain changes in the education scenario of the country. Now he proposes a common test for the engineering and medical students.
The Union Education Minister has now made statements for uniform entrance test for the both the national level tests. He wants to merge the All India Engineering Entrance Exam and All India Pre-Medical Test.
He is of the view that the merger will help the students immensely as Physics and Chemistry are the common subjects for both the tests. So, the engineering students will be required to answer only mathepetics paper while medical students will answer the biology paper only. He said his ministry was debating over the possibility of merging the two tests and after class XII, one common test can be held.
He said that for enterance to the engineering and medical institutions, the marks obtained in class XII and in the enterence tests could be included as criteria. This will particularly help the backward classes who are not able to have coaching in order to get through the entrance exams.
