Lady Gaga made history at the 2010 MTV Video Music Award nominations on Tuesday.
The Grammy-winning singer, 24, scored a record-setting 13 VMA hat tips from the tune aficionados at MTV this morning — including nods for Best Pop Video, Best Dance Music Video, Best Female Video, and Best Choreography for her hit single “Bad Romance.” Gaga also earned a Best Collaboration nomination for “Telephone,” her raved-about video effort with R&B diva Beyonce.
That’s the most nominations ever received by any artist in a single year — and the “Poker Face” hitmaker can’t be more thrilled over the accolade:
“I’m so honored for all the little monsters and self-professed freaks of the universe, to have more VMA nominations in a single year than any artist in MTV history. Ironically, I’m even more proud it’s an unlucky number: 13. A long time ago the world told me and my little monsters we would never be heard, together we changed the rules. God put me on Earth for three reasons: To make loud music, gay videos and cause a damn raucous. Thank you, MTV!”
The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010 @ 9 PM EST.
Other artists up for awards: Ke$ha, B.o.B, Justin Bieber, Florence + The Machine, Jason Derulo, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Pink, 30 Seconds To Mars, Katy Perry, and Usher.
