'Logan' Buzz: Is There a Post-Credits Scene? Plus: What Might Bring Hugh Jackman Back…

In just over a week, one of the best superhero movies ever hits theaters. We love Logan, and we can’t wait for you all to see it, but for now we have some things to share with you regarding the X-Men spinoff’s post-credits stinger and the future of Hugh Jackman and newcomer Dafne Keen in the franchise.

No Post-Credits Scene

Despite back and forth rumors about a post-credits scene being attached late to Logan (we critics who’ve seen it saw nothing at the end), Collider has confirmed that there is no stinger. And that makes some sense, as this is a kind of one-off movie and doesn’t need it. The site does claim there is supposed to be something extra attached somewhere, however. “After doing some digging I’ve learned I wasn’t altogether wrong about Logan having something cool for the fans,” writes Steve ‘Frosty’ Weintraub. “But instead of it being after the credits, maybe it’s before the movie has started…”

As in some kind of trailer? We’ll see when Logan opens on March 3.

Hugh Jackman’s Condition to Stay

We all know that Logan is Hugh Jackman’s final appearance in the title role, aka Wolverine. He won’t be making cameos in Deadpool 2 or any other X-Men movies. He’s done. Retired from the franchise. Unless… In a recent interview for ScreenRant, Jackman admitted there might be or might have been one condition to keep him going with the adamantium claws. He says he’d love to see Wolverine appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and interact with The Avengers:

If that was on the table when I made my decision, it certainly would have made me pause. That’s for sure. Because I always love the idea of him within that dynamic, with the Hulk obviously, with Iron Man but there’s a lot of smarter people with MBAs who can’t figure that out [laughter]. You never know.

And when asked about whether he’d have liked Hulk in a more “Old Man Logan” version of Logan, he said:

At the moment, honestly, if I really did have them there, I probably wouldn’t have said this is the last. It just feels like this is the right time [to leave the character].

The Future of X-23

If Jackman won’t continue playing Wolverine, do fans want him replaced? Or, would they be satisfied with X-23 taking the character’s place in the X-Men franchise? The Wolverine mini-me, a clone/daughter played by Dafne Keen, actually does often steal her scenes with Jackman, so she would certainly be welcome in future movies. And Logan director James Mangold would love to see that happen. Here’s what he said in a recent Facebook Live fan Q&A about expectations for X-23’s return in other X-Men movies:

Expect is a big word. I think Dafne is a remarkable actress and I think she does an incredible job with this role. Personally, I would be shocked if we don’t look into trying to develop that character further.

Mangold also shared an awesome story about how he found such a remarkable young actress for the such a specific and difficult part:

One day, I was sitting in my office and this tape came over of a young woman named Dafne Keen and I remember showing it to each of these gentlemen. We looked at this tape, and I’ll have to put it on the Blu-ray or something, but it’s Dafne climbing around the bookshelves of her house and jumping on the floor and tumbling, and then, delivering scenes from the movie, all shot with her dad’s iPhone. She was amazing in this tape. She comes from a family of actors, her mom is a Spanish actor and her dad is a British actor, and I think she has a great sense of what it is, but I also think she has a great sense of her very own.
